My Writing

I am a Graduate with Honors from the Creative Writing Program of Knox College. While there, my short fiction was the runner-up for the Davenport Prize for Fiction, as well as a semifinalist in the Nick Adams Short Story Contest for Associated Colleges of the Midwest. My short-story collection People Things was given Honors distinction from Knox College, and many of its pieces have now been published elsewhere, including publications like Mount Hope, Em Dash Literary, The Fat City Review, Catch, and elsewhere. Sports writing of mine has appeared in The Classical.

I am the creator of an essayistic tennis blog called The Draw. If you want to talk tennis and all the many things it evokes, come say hello there.

Along with my "Print Run" co-host Laura Zats, I wrote a monthly piece on the publishing industry for Apex Magazine, titled "Between the Lines."

In 2016 I wrote regularly for Rain Taxi Review of Books, as the curator of the “Rain Taxi Rewind” blog. It’s a literary blog that reexamines pieces of previously published arts criticism in light of our current literary scene and wider world.

I’d love to write for you or your publication. As noted above, I have a lot of experience writing and commenting on the publishing world. I’m also ready to contribute on topics as wide ranging as tennis, leftism, contemporary Catholicism, the tragedy of following the Minnesota Vikings, video-game nostalgia, and plenty else. I’m happy to provide writing samples of my work in any of these genres upon request.

And of course, I'm working on the obligatory novel. It's almost done. I can't wait to show it to you.
